The Rapido Trains HO Scale Union Tank Line X-3 8,000-Gallon Tank Car is based on cars delivered beginning in 1920s and in use into the 1970s. The Union Tank Car (UTLX) X-3 design was an important car that operated in all corners of North America. X-3 cars were built in various capacities and configurations, including 6,500-gallon, 8,000-gallon and 12,000-gallon tanks. They were also built with single, double and triple compartments. This detailed model is based on the numerous general service 8,000-gallon cars, including cars modified in the 1920s and 1930s through the addition of insulation and jacketing, and perhaps the most unusual X-3 variants: the "breadbox" cars which hauled transformer The Rapido model is offered in distinct versions for pre-1953 K-brake equipped cars and 1940s and later AB-brake equipped cars. Models also feature correct handbrake and coupler cut bar arrangements based on brake equipment. The cars are accurately scaled from prototype blueprints and feature fully detailed underframes including bolsters, piping and equipment as well as correct Andrews or Bettendorf trucks as appropriate. The cars are accurately decorated and are available individually and in multiple-car packs with multiple roadnumbers. The cars come equipped with Rapido semi-scale metal knuckle couplers.

How can I place a preorder?

To place a preorder, simply look for items marked with "PREORDER" in their title on our website. Add the item to your cart and proceed to checkout. You'll be required to pay a 10% non-refundable deposit to secure your reservation.

When will I be charged for my preorder?

You'll be charged a 10% deposit at the time of placing your preorder. The remaining balance, along with any applicable sales tax and shipping charges, will be due when the item is ready to be shipped. We'll notify you via email with a link to complete your payment.

Can I cancel my preorder?

Preorders can be canceled, but please note that the 10% deposit is non-refundable and will not be credited to store credit, as it goes toward covering the cost of the uncollected reservation.
