Description
PROTOTYPE SPECIFIC INFORMATION:
When the GP59’s and GP60’s were first introduced, three demonstrator versions of each type were tested and evaluated all around the USA by many railroads. The GP60 model proved to be popular with Western- based carriers initially, and was utilized on SP and ATSF high-speed intermodal service. NS acquired both GP59 and GP60 models.
After the mega-mergers in the 1990s, the GP60s found themselves in new paint schemes and in service for new railroads such as UP and BNSF. CSX began to acquire GP60s second hand after 2010. Being assigned to locals and yard jobs, these distinctive locomotives are still in service today.

Preorders: Frequently Asked Questions
What is preordering and why would I want to do that?
What is preordering and why would I want to do that?
In the model railroading world, most products are made in limited runs. Manufacturers no longer produce large quantities to sit in warehouses. Instead, they announce new items and set a preorder deadline. After that date, production is based largely on the number of reservations received.
Preordering through Model Train Stuff guarantees your spot in line for these limited releases. When the products arrive, orders are filled in the order they were placed. The earlier you preorder, the better your chance of getting your items, even if there are shipping delays or shortfalls from the manufacturer.
