Trainworx N 25211-19 Corrugated 52' 6" Gondola, Burlington Northern #560487

My layout has a need for numerous gondolas and these Trainworx gondolas have filled the need for gondolas. They are excellent examples of state of the art models that filled my needs.

I keep saying this about these Trainworx gondolas, but it's true. They are beautiful. I bought 'em, all six. I am into Burlington Northern locos and cars. There is a disappointing part, nonetheless. It's in the paint color variations for BN rolling stock used by Trainworx and other manufacturers. Trainworx BN green, which looks like Ireland's Kelly Green, matches very well with some Bachmann boxcars I have, but not all. (Bachmann's colors are inconsistent, anyway.) BN green used by Atlas and Athearn match, but do not match these Trainworx gondolas. Atlas and Athearn BN green is more shaded. Roundhouse's BN green is darker, too. Kato's SD40-2 BN green works best with the BN green used by Roundhouse for its modern, roofwalkless, eight-foot-door boxcars. MTL (Micro-Trains Line) BN green leans toward Kelly Green, but doesn't get there. Otherwise and anyway, these Trainworx Kelly Green BN cars are excellent. The painting is crisp, the body detailing is very good. They roll very smoothly on center-blackened metal-wheeled trucks with MTL truck-mounted couplers. I don't know for sure if the trucks are MTL's. They are unmarked. The MTL couplers hook-up smoothly with most, but not all other manufacturer's couplers (e.g. Kato couplers). They hook-up well with Bachmann's Gargantuan couplers.
