I do not own any DCC locomotives simply because the speakers in these little guys are just too small to sound realistic. However, by using the Kato Sound Card connected to two sets of Bose bookshelf speakers under the layout with a fader on the panel, I can follow the Big Boy around the tracks and have really great sound at whatever volume is needed, and the cost of the system will be recovered by not buying the factory sound engines. Yes, it’s old-school DC block wiring; it’s all I’ve ever done or care to do. Just sayin’.
