Kato HO 31602 Barber S-2 Freight Truck

I model 1970s and 1980s, and much of my rolling stock is of 1960s and 1970s prototypes, which used this truck. Unfortunately, no one but Kato seems to make such a truck as a replacement (Exactrail did, but not anymore it seems) part, but this truck performs its duties well. I do like the ability to have separately added roller bearing caps, but found I had to add a very small amount of glue to get them to stay on the end of the axle. Just be careful, so you don't glue (CA) your axles to the side frames of the truck. Wheels are free rolling, and the added brake gear doesn't seem to get in the way.

Very free rolling and easy to install. Nice detail. Worth it for upgrading older trucks.

I love the look and quality of these Kato trucks and the price is great. Will probably get more. I enjoy the challenge of installing the rotating bearings onto the wheels. Probably should get my 5 yr old granddaughter to do this for me . But I enjoy the fun and look of turning bearings.

I am using these Kato trucks to replace Trucks on my Woodchip Hopper. They have rotating bearing caps and yet are very free rolling. I will buy more as they are a good value.

These trucks are really nice and a great price. Replacing some old trucks with nice spinning roller bearing ones.
