Soo bought these hoppers secondhand from Belt Railway of Chicago in 1950 and used them to haul stone. They were assigned to Wisconsin Central which Soo had been leasing since 1909. Note the little W.C. in the upper left corner. Soo used only odd road numbers for hoppers and other open top cars during this period.
