These are mostly used on short lines to carry passenger and their luggage, as a full car would not been cost effective. One half (or less) of the car is built like a baggage car while the other half is a regular passenger car, known as baggage-coach, or a coach-RPO (Railway Post Office Car) are a couple of examples of this type of car.
