This detailed Atlas Master Gold N Scale Alco RS3 locomotive is based on thepopular road switcher used by a number of railroads. Well over 1,300 RS3locomotives were built by Alco between 1950 and 1956. It is considered oneof the most successful four-axle diesel road-switchers ever produced byAlco. Powered by an Alco 244 V-12 engine which was complimented by ruggedGE electrical components. The 1,600-horsepower RS3 was truly a versatilelocomotive as owners used it in every type of service from passenger andcommuter runs to heavy-haul and local freight assignments.
