Atlas N 2791 Turntable Motor Drive Unit

The only reason I give it 4 stars is because of the horrendous noise this thing gives off. Of course, I am used to it but when demonstrating it to my visitors, it gets their attention almost immediately, in not a good way. I have to assure them that it is a normal sound and nothing is going wrong with the turntable.

I have had more than 35 years of experience with this unit in both N gauge and HO gauge train layouts and am surprised that Atlas has never figured out a way to make a quieter Turntable motor.

The bottom line, however, is that for the price, Atlas does make a resonably dependable turntable motor that with normal use, should last for many years.

Using it with the N scale Atlas Turntable is great. I used a Bachmann speed controller and power pack to make it work. Very nice.

I modified this turntable for HOn3 and it works well. The motorized unit makes it a little noisy, but I can live with that to get reliability and perfect centering every tIme. This is the second one I have bought.

As I have read, it does have a delay at every stall which is a bit annoying. The motor is loud also. The price is right for a turntable.

Product was ordered over a month ago. Took some time to be sent out and has yet to arrive. Hope it shows up sometime soon.
