Description
Description
Broadway Limited Imports is excited to bring back one of the most iconic diesel locomotive families in American railroad history - the legendary EMD F3 in HO scale!
Few locomotives represent the transition from steam to diesel power quite like the EMD F-series. Introduced in the 1940s, these streamlined locomotives helped transform American railroading and quickly became a familiar sight on railroads across North America. Originally designed for freight service, the F-units proved to be incredibly versatile, handling everything from heavy freight trains to some of the most famous passenger trains of their era.
For this production run we are building several fan favorite road names and paint schemes, including Santa Fe Warbonnet, Central of New Jersey, CSX YN2, and SP&S Hourglass Scheme.
We are offering A-B sets with Powered A-units (w/ Paragon4 Sound) and unpowered B-units, and also separate single A and B-units with our full Paragon4 DC/DCC/Sound system. All of our models have road-specific details and lighting.
About The F3 The EMD F3 is a 1,500 horsepower diesel locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division between 1945 and 1949. The F3 was the third model in EMD's successful F-unit series of cab unit diesels, and it was the second most produced of the series behind the F7. The F3's were widely used in both freight and passenger service, and in total, EMD built more than 1,100 A-units and almost 700 B-units.

Preorders: Frequently Asked Questions
What is preordering and why would I want to do that?
What is preordering and why would I want to do that?
In the model railroading world, most products are made in limited runs. Manufacturers no longer produce large quantities to sit in warehouses. Instead, they announce new items and set a preorder deadline. After that date, production is based largely on the number of reservations received.
Preordering through Model Train Stuff guarantees your spot in line for these limited releases. When the products arrive, orders are filled in the order they were placed. The earlier you preorder, the better your chance of getting your items, even if there are shipping delays or shortfalls from the manufacturer.
