Lionel O 6-14098 Mainline Auto Crossing Gates (2)

This is on the great grand kids 4 X 8 modest layout. Had a Lionel crossing gate activated by fastrack accessory activator track and track powered. That gate was pretty large in scale and slightly slowed down running train when operating. This pair of gates are certainly scale and I use a dedicated Lionel 18 VDC output to operate triggered on and off by the same fastrack accessory activator track. Because the 4 year old great grandson asked why no ding ding sound, I have a Sound Bytes crossing bell coming. These gates are awesome.

I bought my first set five years ago ... they both lasted three months. I replaced them with MTH crossing gate set. As my layout has grown, I needed more gates, I was in able to purchase another MTH set, so I thought Id give the Lionel mainline set another try. After receiving them I bench tested the first only to be disappointed that the gate just went up and down continually, while the other worked perfectly. So one out of four expensive gates worked, not good return for your money! Lesson learned, wait for MTH gates to be restocked.
