About this model
The Pennsylvania built exactly one S1. Altoona completed #6100 in December 1938, and at just over 140 feet with its tender it was the longest reciprocating steam locomotive ever built, wrapped in a Raymond Loewy shell. Clearances kept it on the Fort Wayne Division between Crestline, Ohio and Chicago, where it pulled the Broadway Limited, the Liberty Limited, the Trail Blazer, the General and the Golden Arrow on 84-inch drivers. It was scrapped in 1949.
This is #6100 as visitors saw it at the 1939 New York World's Fair, where it ran under steam on a roller platform at 60 mph. The real tender read "American Railroads" instead of Pennsylvania, because 27 eastern railroads shared that exhibit.
This version: Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC with synchronized smoke. Prefer to add your own decoder? See the DCC-Ready version.
