About this model
ALCO delivered ten FEF-3s, Nos. 835 to 844, in December 1944. They rode on 80-inch drivers with 14-wheel centipede tenders and ran fast with UP's best trains: the Overland Limited, the Los Angeles Limited, the Portland Rose and the Challenger.
Most of 844's sisters weren't so lucky. They spent their last years in freight service before going to scrap. #839 was one of them, shown here in black and graphite.
This version: Stealth Series, No-Sound and DCC-Ready. Want sound and smoke from the factory? See the Paragon4 version.
Pairs well with
- #837, its black-and-graphite sister
- ACF 6000-gallon tank cars, for a freight train
