This detailed Atlas HO Scale Master Silver GE Dash 8-40B (and nearlyidentical Dash 8-39B) is based on the four-axle diesels delivered to avariety of railroads. Built in the late 1980s by General Electric, the Dash8-40B (and externally identical B39-8) diesel locomotives were identifiedby their dynamic brake gear located along the roof line between the cab andengine compartment, with ventilation provided by large roof-top grilles.These four-axle, high horsepower engines are still in service today inNorth America.
